Aliens: Dead Orbit (2017)
Dark Horse
James Stokoe
James Stokoe has an uncanny ability to adapt his
storytelling to various genres. To that point, this series starts off exactly
how you want an Aliens story to start, a distress beacon. Overdone? Of course, but,
undeniably part of the DNA of the Xenomorph franchise. The horror that becomes
of the derelict ship’s crew once our team finds them predates a similar
situation in Alien: Covenant. All good until…SIX MONTHS BETWEEN ISSUES 3 AND 4.
I reread all the issues this week and I must say that I’m a little disappointed
by the ending. All in all a great, claustrophobic, grimy tale reminiscent of
the original movie.
Grade: B
