In 1975 Hellboy visited Austria to investigate a paranormal
occurrence at a church, but ends up meeting The Krampus face to face. Needless
to say the story and storytelling are impeccable. Mike Mignola continues to be
a master at the short self contained stories giving you all the suspense,
nuance, and big dumb action that you want. It won’t come as a shock to learn
that the foe gets vanquished, but what is pleasing is that none of the mystery
behind Krampus is diminished. Hell, it is even greatened by the end. Adam
Hughes continues to amaze with his glorious artwork, colors and all, proving he
is in the top echelon of sequential artists. The issue is worth it for the second
Christmas Memories pin-up alone. I hope that we can see more or Mignola &
Hughes every Christmas from now on.
